ORIT product questions

Choosing the right block splitter mainly depends on the material you want to split, the required splitting capacity and how mobile the machine needs to be. ORIT broadly distinguishes between block splitters for road construction and paving and block splitters for construction.

For paving and road construction, the ORIT 1500-ES-1021-000 is a compact and lightweight model. For versatile professional paving work, the ORIT 3300-TS-IQ-1021-000 is a popular all-round choice.

For splitting sand-lime blocks, suitable options include the 3300-SL-IQ-1021-000, the 4300-SL-IQ-1021-000 and the lighter 5000-SL-1021-000.

For masonry bricks, ORIT offers the ORIT BLC-W-A-1021-000 Quattro. If you are unsure which model best suits your work, an ORIT dealer or our team will be happy to advise you.

The ORIT 3300-TS-IQ-1021-000 Easy Cutter is our best-selling block splitter. It combines versatile use with a strong price-to-quality ratio and is designed for intensive professional work.

With a maximum splitting width of 330 mm and a maximum splitting height of 120 mm, it is suitable for many common road construction and paving applications.

A block splitter uses pressure to split a block or paving slab in a controlled way. For a good result, a sharp splitting blade is particularly important. Depending on the model, the blade can be rotated when one cutting edge is worn.

Place the block securely and as level as possible in the splitter, and make sure there are no loose stones or dirt on the support plate. Check the material for hairline cracks beforehand; existing cracks can cause the block to break differently than intended.

A block splitter is mainly intended for straight splitting lines. Small corners or very narrow pieces are generally less suitable.

The most suitable version mainly depends on the type of paving and how often you need to adjust the setting.

A single-spindle block splitter is quick and easy to adjust. This is useful when blocks vary in size. With a twin-spindle block splitter, the left and right sides can be adjusted separately. This is practical for dimensionally consistent materials and repetitive work.

In short: choose a single spindle when quick adjustment matters, and twin spindles when you want to adjust both sides separately.

A slab lifter helps you pick up, move and position paving slabs accurately. This reduces lifting from awkward positions and makes heavy or large slabs easier to handle.

This makes the job more practical and can help reduce physical strain during paving.

A wheel set makes it easier to move a block splitter or other suitable tool around the work site. This means you need to lift the tool less often, which is especially useful with heavier models.

A wheel set is particularly useful when you regularly change position during a job.

Service

Warranty & service

ORIT offers a 7-year warranty on non-wear parts. We stand behind the quality of our tools and want professionals to be able to rely on ORIT products for the long term.

The warranty applies to non-wear parts. Parts that wear through normal use are not automatically covered.

Warranty claims are always handled through the dealer that sold the product.

If an ORIT product develops a fault, first visit our warranty and claims page. There you will find more information about the procedure.

Also contact the dealer where you purchased the product. Warranty claims are handled in cooperation with the selling dealer.

In many cases, a defective or worn part does not mean the entire tool needs replacing. ORIT keeps many wear and spare parts in stock.

These parts can be ordered through one of our dealers.

Parts

Spare & wear parts

Individual parts are available for various ORIT products, allowing a product to be maintained or repaired without replacing the complete tool.

ORIT supplies through a dealer network, so spare parts can be ordered through an ORIT dealer.

If you cannot find the right part, contact us, so that we can help you.

Wear parts are available separately for various products, including blades, rubber parts, wheels and handles that may need replacing after intensive use.

When making an enquiry, preferably include the item number and/or model of the ORIT product. You can also send a photo if needed, helping us identify the correct part more quickly.

Use

Use & maintenance

Good maintenance helps keep tools in good condition for longer. Clean tools after use, regularly check moving and wear-sensitive parts, and replace worn parts in good time.

Always follow the product-specific instructions as well.

This depends on the product and the part concerned. Simple wear parts can be replaced by the user on some products.

For parts that affect safety, always follow the applicable instructions and contact ORIT if in doubt.

Service life depends on the product, intensity of use, application and maintenance. ORIT develops tools for professional and intensive use.

Regular maintenance and timely replacement of wear parts help extend service life.

Technical

Inspections, CE & safety

The required inspection frequency depends on the applicable regulations, use and conditions in which the lifting clamp is operated.

The owner/user is responsible for the required periodic inspections.

The permitted load is product-specific. Always consult the product information, markings and accompanying documentation for the relevant lifting clamp.

Never exceed the stated maximum load.

Yes. Conformity documentation for our CE-compliant lifting clamps is available and, where published, can be found on the relevant product page.

If you need documentation for a specific model, contact us and state the model or item number.

Whether a product requires CE marking depends on the European legislation applicable to that specific product. Machinery is currently covered by Directive 2006/42/EC. From 20 January 2027, this will largely be replaced by Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 on machinery.

Non-powered hand tools do not automatically fall under machinery rules. However, there is an important exception: equipment intended for lifting loads may also fall under the Machinery Directive when the only power source is directly applied human effort.

We therefore assess CE obligations by product and application. The fact that a product is manually operated does not automatically mean CE marking is unnecessary.

Not every product commonly described as a machine or device automatically falls under the same CE rules. There is also no general list of sectors in which machinery without CE marking may be used.

Whether CE marking is mandatory depends on the specific product, its function and the applicable European product legislation. An exception under the Machinery Directive also does not automatically mean that no other European CE legislation applies.

If you have a question about a specific ORIT product, contact us.

Yes. All ORIT lifting clamps are CE compliant and are supplied in accordance with the applicable European regulations. The corresponding conformity documentation is available.

Any periodic inspections and certification during use are the responsibility of the owner/user of the lifting clamp, in accordance with the applicable regulations and product application.

If you need CE documentation for a specific ORIT lifting clamp, contact us.
